  1. Since launching the Inochi Client at the start of 2021, we've got it to a state where most people, if not all, are better off using it. Some of the major advantages it brings are obvious as a player. For most people, it will bring a performance boost, has new features that weren't possible before and there's no need to install Visual Basic runtime files (COM Components) to run it, which means no more pesky runtime errors. But we've talked a lot about what it brings to the table. Today I'm here to talk about what keeping the Old client around costs and why we have to deprecate it soon. The increased workload of double updates It's hard to push updates with on both clients. There's a separate procedure for pushing updates on both so we have to do double the work. Also, some of the art has to be reworked into different formats for it to work on the old client. We're effectively maintaining, updating and supporting two games at the moment. Two sets of it's own troubles and issues. When an important bug is found on one, it might have to be patched on both. To add an item to the game, we have to update both etc. This slows down development, and this alone outweighs the benefits of maintaining the old client. A new engine, with new possibilities, bogged down by the old client's limitations There's new features that we've added and will be adding that cannot be done in our old engine. Some examples that we've worked on in the past few months that simply wouldn't have been possible before include oAuth login system (which also means social media login), Housing System & Furniture System. There's optimizations that can be made, but not without losing support for the new client. We've done a lot of this in the past few months as well. eg. LZMA Compression (Modern compression library). Once the next update is up, the new client will download and cache maps faster than ever before. There's features we want to add and shaders that we want to use, but will only be possible on the new client as well. Such as a way to recolor hairstyles to any color you want on the spectrum. Better debugging With everyone on the New Client, regardless of how it performs for the individual, it will give us valuable information on how to solve remaining issues and improve performance across the board. We've added a lot more debugging information, along with what's available through 3rd party resources for modern .NET software, we will be able to handle issue reports that crop up better. We've also been able to fix a lot of major issues that have long been impossible to on the new client, thanks to having Visual Studio .NET to work with, better debugging tools. Visual Basic 6 was deprecated in the early 2000s, the IDE doesn't even have Mouse scrollwheel support. That's the kind of limitations we've had to work with all this time. Conclusion There's a lot we can't do until we finally get past the hurdle of finally deprecating our ancient technology. As much as it's sad to say good bye to the old client and the work environment I've been using for 15 years, and 7 years for Nin Online. It's time to say good bye and move towards better days. This is also going to be a one-way street. Once we make this move, it will never be possible to go back because of how major the upgrade is going to be and how much data is going to be converted... but it's one we have to delve into bravely. I hope for everyone's understanding and support. If you haven't already moved over to the new client, please do so by downloading the new installer on the Download section. It also supports Macintosh! PS: For people who are having issues using the new client, part of the deprecation of the old client involves removing some components that were causing that issue. So it will hopefully be working when the update comes. Regards, Ueda

  4. I did not reach the endgame yet, but I thought that I would share a few things here (related to end-game contents). Firstly, I truly love the experience so far. The fact that leveling isn't as easy as on the other games of the genre make each level important and, somehow, unique. I know most people complain about the whole farming thing, but I see it as a way to practice your skills while thinking about your character's background (at least, that's how I see it). That being said, here are a few suggestions (end-game only, I may do a post later one "Vision of a new player" or something like that). System of leaderboard: It is probably not a surprise (seeing the previous answers), but such a system will not only entertain the players (who want to be the very best), but it could also serve another purpose. Let me explain that briefly: every month, a new "season" starts, at the end of every season, the best three players receive something (it could be a cosmetic specially made for that occasion, rios, etc.). The goal is basically to encourage people to take part in PVP. We could also imagine a system of arenas. If that's possible, the players who are interested in "fair fights" could talk to a PNG in each village and join some kind of queue. I believe that it could be, somehow, interesting for a certain part of the community. PVP As mentioned previously, I am a new player, but I already realized that PVP was a big part, not to say the biggest part, of the game. And that's why I think that a few things could be added/changed. - Village raid: What if these raids had a direct impact on the players? I mean, of course, it shouldn't be THAT big, but what if, for instance, the players who lose their statue (I don't know the name, don't hit me), lose an outpost or something like that? Like, it could be merged with Bandit's idea (who gave a really good idea, love it). - Arenas (already mentioned previously). Rp contents That includes a bit of everything. I started the game recently, but I can assure you that I can't to take part in RP missions or events. The thing is that, it would be amazing if there were more tools for that. For instance, housing for each organizations (should be expensive), etc. Politics I could have added to the previous part, but I think that it deserves its own thing (don't hit meeee). Basically, the politics is done by players right now, and there is nothing in game that makes it seen to the players who aren't on Discord (as I am not on my village Discord yet :(), forums, etc. Alright, let me explain: What if the different kages could manage the politics of their village? For instance, Sand Village and Mist Village decide to become ally in order to fight against the Leaf Village or the other rogue organizations. By changing that in game, the people from these two villages wouldn't be able to attack each other (except if they have PVP on), which could encourage rp meetings between the different kages/organizations, etc. but also somehow balance the current imbalance (population of each villages). We could also push the whole thing a bit more by adding other possibilities such as giving the possibility to each kages to add taxes to the entrance of their respective village for visitors who aren't masked. I don't know, that sounds crazy, but again, RP-speaking, that could lead to something interesting. Of course, that could be problematic for the missions, but again, these players wouldn't have to pay if they hid their identity. Achievements That has already been mentioned previously, but that's definitely something nice to have in such a game. Players who don't know what to do (or want to do something else) can basically open a menu and have a look at their achievements, which ones are missing, etc. I, myself, enjoy it a lot. And that could even be more interesting if a few titles were given to those who achieve specific achievements (carrot and donkey). Dunjeons I sincerely don't know if it is possible, but having a few dunjeons could be nice. Not only for end game players, but also for the rest of the community. Adding a Dungeon, it is also adding a new story to the game, new monsters (or not), a new experience, etc. But also, something players could do regulary. What players could get from these Dunjeons? I don't know, but I guess Weapons, rios and, why not, specific cosmetics? Jobs Well, that could be my last idea for now, but what about adding jobs to the game? It could start with basic jobs such as harvester, black-smith, and woodcutter then evoluate... Like, harvester could work with a new job called tailor to make new cosmetics (even recolour), etc. Anyway, that's a bunch of ideas. Since I wrote it on my phone, there might be a few mistakes, and I am sorry for that.

  6. I hope you're trolling with this post, but in case you aren't: 1. My account was created July 10th, we're in July 18th, unless I can see the future, I couldn't have possibly seen this thread coming 8 days prior and created this account "with the single purpose of making this post". 2. I did not insult the creator of this thread, unlike you who have just insulted me in a laughably infantile manner. 3. My reply here is meant for the staff, as they and they alone are the ones who would implement the changes the OP wants, fortunately, the staff can actually check all the information in my account, including real name, payment history, and many other things that would easily prove that I am indeed a new player. Have a nice day, little fellow.

  10. It's kinda ironic when the ones who complain about getting BI warrior'ed today, are also the ones who trash talk and boast about BI warrioring their opposition yesterday. Let that sink in for a minute and grab some coffee.

  11. As a new player who is a lowbie, the game would be nearly unplayable if the ability to carry on with gameplay normally during BI was removed, since people like the one that created this thread spend a large amount of their time killing new players/lowbies that are trying to level up, and the world map of this game is so small that it is very predictable for them to find and pick on easy prey, probably in hopes of making them leave the game so their opposing village doesn't get any new blood and manpower. The world doesn't revolve around this guy's problem and his solutions may bring more problems than it seeks to fix. Just keep that factor in mind when touching something like this.

  21. Wastelander News 28/01/2021 Ambushing During my time roaming within the Land of Rivers and in the Land of Fire, It became apparent that there are a lot of hotspots within these two sections that enable rouge shinobi to ambush our shinobi. The other day, I was attempting to travel through the Land of Rivers to complete a mission from the mission board. After making my way through the desert and into the Land of Rivers, an unexpected group of rogues ambushed me. "Why?" I asked myself after being ambushed by them. "What's the real reason behind these ambushes?" I started to ask around, travelling through the Land of Rivers to find rogue shinobi and to ask them this question "What's the deeper meaning behind these spots being picked?" My first encounter was with a female rogue shinobi. She told me " It's the harassing truth. Nothing can stop criminals. Criminals are criminals." These words imply that Ambushing shinobi is a sport to them. Criminals have a monopoly for ambushing our shinobi right now as their hidden village is closer to the sand village than any other village. Other sources say "It's for the easy money. It's easy to hunt bounties." And these words are True to some extent, Holding up the main pathways around the Land of Rivers will rain in money for them as there is no alternative around spots such as Bears and Tigers. Even though you will see rogue shinobi, there is a high chance to run into Leaf shinobi as well. Leaf shinobi usually set up their ambushes more near the land of fire. In conclusion, to avoid being ambushed use some common sense and use Cloak of Invisibility to sneak past ambushes. It's not a given that you will sneak by them but better safe than sorry. Thank you for picking up this article, more coming up soon. If you have any stories or your want your voice heard contact me while I’m around. (Hey everyone, as you see this is my first article I wrote up, I’m aiming to write articles based around the Nin world and events that unfold in the game. I’m aiming to write up articles and I hope you all enjoy them.)
