Dear Ninja, First of it's kind rant Dev log. Balance is hard. Everyone has a favorite kind of ninja they want to be, and in an anime/manga, you don't have to consider balancing it in any legible way. When initially designing each mastery, I had a vision for it to affect the players gameplay heavily, for them to be good in certain scenarios, weak in others and also plan unique training experiences for them. For example, as a Tools Ninja, you would have a unique advantage in battles where you could prepare in advance by placing traps. You would have a harder time in spur of the moment battles or ambushes. You would also spend a lot more ryo on tools, hence have a harder time leveling up. As a fire ninja, you would have a big advantage in small arenas. Without any meaningful crowd control, you would rely heavily on AoE and landing your jutsu, which would be more easily done when there is little place to run. The large open world of Nin Online has little tight spaces besides bridges and valleys, but as new arenas are used for more chunin exams, maybe we'll see arenas where this mastery and others shine more. Sword ninja and Fan ninja are the only mastery where you need to hunt for your weapon. As more boss fights come, you will hunt for better weapons with better stats. I got a message from somebody saying tool ninjas were unbalanced because it was too broken because they OP when they can prepare for fights but are useless when they are fighting unprepared.. Good job me? My point is that there's a special place for each mastery in the games balance. The ideal end point is not where every mastery is balanced in a 1v1 fight or a 5v5 team fight. The end goal is for each mastery to have areas where it excels, and are weak in. Arenas where some will prosper and others fail. The end goal is not for support medics to have the same easy time training as Taijutsu ninja. The ideal balance is when each class feels like it has enough merit and fun points to be worth the training. There's a lot more to do, and always will be more I can do to improve the experience of each mastery. Sometimes tweaking values isn't enough, and sometimes it fixes things entirely. But there's more to balancing and game design than everything being fair in a 1v1 fight and I hope everyone who reads this gets my vision at least. PS: Typed on my phone right before bed. Ignore typos!20 points

Hello Ninja, A new thing we'd like to start doing is promoting community events on the forums. Your Game Masters will ensure you get plenty of events in the game, but we also enjoy seeing your art, screenshots, biographies, and much more. Because of that, we also want to reward you more often for doing events and contests outside of the game. For this, we'll be hosting weekly events that will take place on the forum. Every week, I will be hosting a Community Event that will not take place in-game, but here on the forums (in-game content may be used as entries such as screenshot contests). These events will rotate weekly which will consist of small tasks we'd like you to do and submit such as fanart/fanpixel, screenshots, ninja biographies, and much more. Since this event is weekly, submission and judging dates will be happening quickly, meaning this isn't an event about just quality, but speed and quality. You need to ensure your submissions are always in by Sunday at 12:00 P.M. EST. Voting will happen Sunday afternoon and evening and then winners will be announced with the announcement of the following week's event. So, be mindful of the judge's limited time to judge and push out new events. Update: Every month, the week before the Chunin Exams, we will take a week off in preparation of the Chunin Exams, so generally the week before that, we'll try to double up on prizes! Event topics will be posted in the Discussion category, or if you come back here on Mondays around 1:00 P.M. EST, the following link will be updated: Festival Art Contest - Weekly Community Event #5 Do not post submissions here, they will be hidden! Best Regards, Jessica9 points

Hello Ninjas! It has been quite some time since you've received a proper "community update" from me as CM and that will definitely be changing moving forward as your captain @Yuko will officially be acting as Community Manager for this community as I continue my ninja journey as a GM. Make sure you're following @Jessica as that will be her acting CM account to stay up to date and involved in all things related to the community and the events being held. As always, we aim to provide the best to those who dedicate and continue to invest their time into this amazing game. Continue to contact the GMs and staff for all your complaints and game related issues still! This does not mean you should destroy our Community Manager's inbox beyond ninja repair. Look forward to seeing everyone's involvement in the events to come! It'll definitely be great. Remember, we are players too! She will make a proper introduction in due time, until then; look forward to it! *Hands awesome community scroll to Jessica*7 points

Thank you for taking your time to explain and show us your vision of the game, instead of ignoring us completely. It shows that you read our complaints and care about them.1 point

Balancing is probably one of the hardest things to do with a game, which is completely understandable since Nin will never truly be balanced. If people wanted a truly balanced game, we would only see a game where all of the attacks are the same, completely removing the fun out of the game. Nin Online has the potential to become a diverse game where you can become the ninja of your dreams, a quality that should and will always be at the core of the game itself. Keep up the good work Rory!1 point

Ladies and gentlemen, the results have finally been made. It has taken quite some time to discuss these amazing screenshots and entries with our other staff members who have also voted and voiced their opinion. Without further ado here are your three winners of the Nin Online Screen Shot Contest. First place: @Ushu Second place: @Crowlock Third place: @Ram Mirana Congratulations to these three ninja's who have submitted one of the best entries in this competition. I hereby present to you the three screenshots that have been chosen as the top three submissions: Thank you all for participating everyone. We really appreciate all of your amazing entries as they were all fantastic. Some of the entries were made very creatively. Others included great roleplay on their captures as well. A few had great comedic sense and there were also screenshots with great scenery. Personally I really like all of the screenshots that have been submitted. Some seem to have taken quite some time and effort to make so I truly appreciate the great input you guys have been showing. That is why I definitely look forward to host more great events for the future with you all. I hope you've all enjoyed this competition everyone. Stay healthy and hope to see you all on the next event! Kind regards, Shirou (Emiya)1 point
