  1. Dear Ninja, This new year marks a special time for Nin Online, as it'll be our first year of game service completed. For us, this is an important milestone, as for the previous 3 years of development, the game was running through alpha test cycles, where we could afford to be sloppy, mess things up, and wipe everything again and again. Thanks to @Seth, and with the help of @Suirad and @Robin, since Open Beta launched in April, we've kept the server online without any maintenance lasting more than a day, and we've avoided any hiccups that would require a wipe or major rollback. Despite it being hard to balance both development and maintaining a game service. 2017 was a surprisingly good year for development. Starting with the launch of Closed Beta in January, which saw the released of Sand Village, Bingo Books, Reworked Masteries, Reworked Tutorials, an expanded world map and Daily Missions. We then took the server down a month, and launched Missing Ninjas, Takumi Village and fixed problems found in the Closed Beta. Throughout the remainder of the year, we released an Introduction Scene for both villages, RP Missions, ANBUs, Neo-Akatsuki, a new User Interface, support for larger resolutions, Rebindable Keys, 4 new sub-masteries, 25 new unique Jutsus, we've introduced NPCs which can use Jutsus which we've used to create ninja mobs, 50+ new Mobs & NPCs, 100+ new items, we've expanded old maps to work in larger resolutions and expanded the size of the world with a bunch of new areas, we've spent countless hours reworking features so that they scale with an ever growing player base. There's been so much smaller changes and new content that it's hard to list everything down. We also have a lot of content that's half-way in the works, and will eventually see the light of day. I'd like to thank @Stephen for expanding the game's content through existing art and constantly giving his ideas and time to the game. I'd like to thank @Sezu for creating tons of new content and art with me and without me. I'd like to thank and welcome back @Akiro who've been a big help in taking care of the community since his return, our composer Justin West who has contributed a large amount of new tracks this year (some released and some not), I'd like to thank the rest of the staff team and lastly I'd like to thank all the Gold Ninja, and those who monetarily support the project regularly. However, in all of this, we've not managed to spend enough time actively hosting events. We've only did one combined Chunin Exam, and one for the Sand village. We've had smaller events along the way, but nothing as grand as our live streamed spectacle of a salt fest. The reason for this has mostly been because of how rough the 3rd Chunin Exams went. Hopefully, in 2018, we'll have the time and resource to focus on running regular events as originally planned. I'm still thinking about how much of it I can automate while keeping the essence of what makes this big event what is is. Regardless, Nin Online has been going strong, and I can safely say that this has been the most productive year of development to date and it couldn't have been possible without everyone's support. My thoughts in closing.. Nin Online is an extremely niche game, made for Naruto fans who aren't content with the kind of games we keep getting, like the web game or mobile games. Online games in this shape and form, in general, are a dying breed. To game companies, the money has long moved to quickly developed auto-play games on mobile, which is why you will never see a real Naruto Online but instead get games like Ninja Voltage. Realistically speaking, a game like Nin Online should not be able to exist because Nin Online does not make enough money to justify it's existence. That being said, the game still exists thanks to everyone who has donated to the game, and everyone who is a positive impact on the community, and will continue to exist for as long as we have that! Thanks everyone for listening to my rant! Look forward to lots more in 2018. Regards, Rory

  2. This is actually a fair point. We should wait on this decision till there are more cash shop items. You need to give players more of an option before taking options away from them. More cash shop items can benefit both the community and the devs. Taking away without there being a substitute for the change will only be a "downgrade", maybe you should look into balancing out by adding more cash shop items or even just more items in the clothing stores. Please take this into consideration.

  3. When you listed all of the great many things that you guys have accomplished this year, I had to take a 5 minute break to contemplate just how much was actually done. So much was finished this year... which is ironic considering how many people were complaining about a lack of content (Myself included unfortunately). All in all, this was a great year for Nin Online. I had no idea just how hard you guys had been working until you compiled that list of things that you and your team accomplished @Rory. Thank you for the effort that you all have put into producing this game and providing this service. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year~

  4. I do not like the idea of village-exclusive clothing. Maybe WAYY later on.. after we obtain more non-exclusive clothing.. an item or two can be released in each village (same item, different color in each village). It can definitely add a small, yet interesting aspect to the game. Like how Leaf has gentle fist and Sand has fan jutsu. I think more clothing should be added in-game, as well as in the cash shop, before we start worrying about something like this. Maybe some cute accessories as well, like mouse/ lamb ears? >.> I'm not completely against the idea.. but at this point in the game, I would only see this change as a downgrade. Please do not change any of the current wearable items to something that is village-exclusive. Tables WILL be flipped.

  5. How is making clothing exclusive to villages gonna change it? There's like 5 people in the whole game that wear Sand robes, nobody is wearing the Leaf clothes that are to be limited. It could work if everyone was wearing items from the clothing stores, but that's not the case. Open Bounty Book, walk around the villages, everyone is wearing HQ robes or Cash shop cosmetics. Maybe limit HQ and CS to villages, so they can be told apart? That just makes no sense. It is not gonna improve RP in any way, it will not make the game better, it will ruin it for those who have grinded (because of the effort, not the ryo) for the Robe and are now gonna lose it for absolutely no reason. Sand has the best training spots and best clothes in stores, why not make the spots exclusive, aswell? For RP. We need new content and new features (like hidden names) in the game for it to be more fun, not removing (or limiting in this case) already existing ones. Most of the people who are saying it's a good idea to make village's clothing exclusive seem to be either people from Sand (since they don't lose anything from the change), people who aren't wearing the stores' clothing, or people who aren't even playing the game anymore.

  6. Interesting idea, very good in theory. For me, making certain clothes exclusive to their villages kinda beat the purpose of adding this new rp enhancing feature. The only clothings that MAYBE could be exclusive in my opinion is the village flak jackets but thats even that's stretching it. Village flak jackets, if made exclusive, should then also be made more accessible (maybe obtainable through a mission) cause that will be the base for ally identification, especially for wars/raids for example. However, even for wars, the kage would just have to tell everyone to wear the village jacket like all the ninjas did in the show, so that's an argument against making it exclusive. I'd like to see no exclusive village clothing cause this will kind of force better cooperation and open more doors to RP in PvP. I do think that obtaining enemy village flak jacket shouldn't be easy though, in a RP sense you'd have to " steal " it or buy it from another player.

  7. We're going to be running a trial on a feature. We'll be hiding names by default, until you click on or hover over the player, and so more than ever, it's going to be crucial the way you dress - to be identified by your village members. The question is, do you think it would be better if certain signature clothing are limited to villages, like Sand's Robes and Utility Vests, or robes for missing ninja and ANBU. Let us know, and comment why.

  8. Idk. People having their items that they earned taken from them seems like a pretty obvious downside. xD The idea is fine, but shouldn't be implemented using existing items. New items should be created with the intent of being village-exclusive. That way both sides win.. nobody gets their items taken, and Nin still gets that RP aspect.

  11. I'll be extremely upset if any of my current items are taken from me, though. It's not even JUST about there not being a large enough selection. Nobody should have their items that they obtained fairly, through hard work, taken away from them. Add more cash shop items. Add more in-game items. Add one cash shop and one in-game item that is village-exclusive. Don't mess with what is already owned by many. :c

  12. Please don't take my robes. I feel the same way @Origami Heart does. I wouldn't know what to do without them. I'm ready to fight anyone for them. I'll also pay for them to stay (reasonable price of course).

  14. I’m kind of back and forth while I think limiting clothing would be nice since you’ll be able to identify players a little more. Then again I’d like them to be open for all, even Chunin vest as players who have them can put them on and infiltrate a Village. Both options are good in my opinion I’m just looking forward to names FINALLY being hidden from view. If now names could be hidden until you introduce yourself or more information is gathered(like seeing/killing them from the bounty book).

  15. Added hitboxes to mobs. This allows for big boss battles. Added where NPCs can do combos!

  18. Cursed Seal Activation now gives you actual seal marks on your body. The seal symbol above your head disappears right after casting it.
