When i read *Toad Contract Scroll* suddenly that idea became very exciting.
Edit*
But this idea could have its downside as some elements like wind and lighting have more AoE jutsus making it easier for them to kill mobs, which puts the other element affinities and the other professions (forgot how they called) at a disadvantage
Maybe making it in teams (of 3 for example) ? The first team to get the number of frog legs wins.
This way different element jutsus may be put to work together.
An idea would be : Battle Royal.
The last surviving wins. Meaning that short term alliances would have to be made and as easily ended. Also you would need to play it strategically.
Basically it's like the ninja world, but much much more faster.
Another idea : make mini-movies in game (2min or 3min max length)
It would boost people into RP and would be funny as hell.
I'd like to see a pie eating contest, but I have no real idea how to implement that one (other than "the one to click the fastest on his keyboard wins"...).
Soccer game : on the field players are immune to dammage, but if they touch the ball or if it gets hit by a jutsu, it goes in the direction it was hit. Basic.
Olympic games - The Spring of Youth !!!
1. Make a tour of the village by touching the checkpoints in the different maps around the village. Anything is allowed : fighting, teleportation or simply running.
2. First to kill 50 specific mobs (turtles i suggest).
3. Tap the moderator : the moderator/game master runs around and everyone has to try to get a hit. The first hit wins.
4. JANKEN !!!
5. Best outfit or best joke.
And everything ends with a cup of sake of course.

I never roleplayed before, but I'm eager to see if I can get a real sensei in this new world!

Nice work
Just one thing I noticed concerning the 3 gif animations for the different perspectives of the taijutsu punch :
in the first one, the paperdoll keeps the stance a lot time less than the other two, after the impact
Keep up the good work guys!

You need to use this key `.
We will add rebinding later, for now we just are worrying about the basics. The reason why it isn't Shift + Tab, is because Shift is the run trigger and will cause incompatibility issues with the input.
OK Seth, I'll try next time the game's up.
But honestly, i tried all the keys, even tried Shift+All Keys and even changing from French (yes, it's a French keyboard) to English... Must be doing something wrong. Don't really worry about it, if I still have trouble when the game is back up, I'll let the staff know!
Thanks for your time anyway and good luck
-
What is above your Tab key?
something like this :
and it doesn't work when auto-targeting players
-
The only problem I have is the "player-target" key.
I don't really have that Key on my laptop so basically, during all last Alpha, I couldn't target any player which always put me at a disadvantage in pvp.
I basically tried every Key on my laptop but it didn't work.
The only way to target a player was to hit him first or to try and click on him with the mouse.

In this devlog Rory shows the heaven and earth scrolls for the Chunnin exam :
still, maybe in this first chunin exam there won't be a forest of death, who knows
-
Good news. I hope you make the Chunnin exams meaningful for those who participate in them. Make them difficult to attain. In theory, not all would pass the exams since there would be causalities, but since this is a game, I highly doubt that this will be the case. Every single Genin will most likely pass on the first attempt.
Seeing as the Chunnin exams will be the first big role-play event held on NinOnline, i think they'll stick to "realism"... thus like in the series, not even half will pass.
Correct me if I'm wrong. That's just what I was lead to believe upon browsing the forums for months now.
-
@Fernando OK, will there be many of these "rocks" in the game ? And yeah, i know about the body flicker, just thought it was something else since there's usually the name appearing in blue when using a jutsu and didn't see one here
Anyway, nice work, once again!
-
Great job, Fer!
The cloaks look neat.
The animation for the jutsu is cool, too bad you can't see too well the head of the dragon. Partly because of the speed, so not your fault.
Also, there's a moment when you pass near the rock, we can't see your head, which doesn't feel right since the rock should be behind you...
And is it me or are you using a teleportation tehnique? ><
Edit : smooth edits, Rory and Seth! 3 whole days on aniations, wow!
-
Looking good Rory! Small question : what happens if you're charging chakra during combat and someone hits you ? does the technique stop ? See ya soon in-game!
-
Nice! Good work, they really get you in a playing mode.
And good work for the team too! Taking in a composer just shows how much you've thought about this and that this project is going full speed ahead!

if Shizuo or anyone else keeps PK everyone just tell me it took 2 of them spamming fireballs to take me down
although having nearly the whole population of lvl 5's after me was fun
was just testing the pvp mode
btw, you should start an organization now that it's possible
TPKO : The Player Killers Organization
(not sure Rory would agree though smh)
-
2vs1? Thats less legit than when you told me to 1v1 taijutsu and you used fire jutsu at the end.
trying to save your pride, i see
keep on telling them lies and we shall continue the "hunt the artist" game
-
shoulda screened when you got your ass wooped -_-
-
Yes please let me have it, Rory!
-
smh this is more than we deserve ^_^
on a side note :
Atrox is right about the light in the hokage building, weird
love the anbu mask Kimi's wearing! doesn't it hide the id of the player yet?
on the map "near the valley" - the big tree on the right - light's coming from above yet we see shadows from the leaves even though it's the biggest tree around, but it still gives a nice feeling to the surrounding
the first pic - the building on the left - you can see through the left window and we see the grass (continuing from the bottom), like there's nothing in it >< but maybe that's the whole idea, my bad
anyway, thx for the preview Rory, i'm even more eager to stay level 1 Academy Student and to just roam the land now!

as i said in the shoutbox, very nice! i'm no expert, but maybe the shadow's too... black? in the second one...
anyway, hope you'll continue on the path of non-naruto-show overalls

Yes, if an enemy spy is in your village and is not using a henge, you will not need the PvP toggle to attack him. If he is using a henge, attacking him with your PvP toggle on will un-henge him and he will be open to all your village ninjas to attack.
and will he be able to just attack anyone within that village even if they have pvp off?
-
@Rory thank you x'D
and, tell me if i'm wrong, but "Safe Zone" in village = you're safe in your own village from other players from the same village, right?
>> if i see a sneaking iwa-spy, i can still kill him even if in the village, right?
>> if i'm a iwa-spy walking in konoha, i can still kill villagers, right?

If the Hokage chooses, there could be possible problems :
1° too much work for the Hokage since he has a lot of work -_-
2° in the manga/anime, it's teir lives, their superior's order... if you wanna stay in the village and be a ninja, abide by the rules; while here, if you're in a team with someone you don't particularly like, it could end up bad and people may just quit (no responsability on the other side of the screen)
3° if a player gets inactive after the team players reach level, say 45 (yeah a lot), what happens to the team? at that level it would be difficult to find someone to replace him "untill the end of all times and missions"
4° may have GMT issues
...and i'm sure there are a lot more ...so maybe stick to choosing your own teammates?
I agree with team missions from time to time (or just make it that there are NPCs impossible to beat alone, so people will HAVE to find help).
But maybe change teams from time to time? Whenever we want to... Depending on those who still play the game, those who are about your level, those who are the same GMT as you and of course, those who are still called friends.

Just saying "nice idea" is against the Forum Rules and Guidelines (you may want to read them)
As stated previously on the forum :
when the game is finished, yes, you'll be able to choose where you start from (but there's a chance there will be a wipe so you'll have to create a character from lvl1 like evryone else... if this will be decided on, Rory promissed something like "bonuses" for the alpha/beta -testers)
"And wat type ninja we would like be" (as you put it) : you'll be able to choose alright, the hair, the color, the eyes... Stats : same for everyone. Clan/Ability : this is still being discussed, but most likely you won't be able to choose up front (since this could cause the Uchiha-SPAM-Syndrome and everyone will choose the Sharingan)
"The only villages which currently fully seem to be make-able in my opinion are the Leaf, Sand and Sound. But of course if you guyse really want other villages you should start to collect pictures and images about how they look geographically, to help out."
And this : yes and no... Well, Suna and Leaf have already topics where people who want to help can post pictures, so as to help the staff. Sound was debated if it should even be considered a village and if it should be in the game... Feel free to ask this question to the most active players in the Shoutbox.
I agree with Suna and Leaf and the if I'd have to give a third village, it would be Rain, since we've seen it in the Jiraiya vs Pain & Tobi vs Konan arc... and also there are some pics from games and stuff.
