  4. Hey Ninjas, It's been a long time since I've made a development log. Though there has been so much progress going on. I finally decided to do one regarding a new jutsu which has had a very unique development process. For awhile now, I've been resting on completing the Jutsu kits for all our 1st Tier Masteries and focusing development on the Sand Village and other aspects of the game. But with the Sand Village coming to completion, I'm moving some of my time back into developing our kits to it's completion. We've had this piece of art @Fernando made, lying around for almost a year, which both of us found very hard to animate in 2D. Most of our Jutsu animations are usually pixel art animations, which mean they are done pixel by pixel, but for the first time in Nin Online history, I decided to use my 3D art skills to create a Jutsu animation. The task at hand was to create a Spiked Exploding Ball for Weapon Masters. So first of all what I did was create a simple 3D model of a ball with knife sticking out of it. This is Autodesk Maya and the model I made in a few minutes Next I textured the model with a simple texture of metal and an explosive tag on both sides. Next I made a simple looping rotating animation for it. Our 2D sprites are all shaded in a method called Cell shading, or Toon shading in Maya. So I used a shader to get this look. And finally, once I rendered it out and did some post-editting, I achieved this! It's a complex animation that fits in our game's artstyle and makes weapon masters that much more awesome! Hope you guys enjoyed this dev log entry! If you guys have any part of my art creation process you'd like to know more about in-depth, feel free to suggest it and I can try to document it in the next development log. Regards, Rory
  5. Actually the way it works is that you can't use one while another one is going on, and you can't overwrite another player's. So it's exclusive to one player at a time
  6. Who said anything about the Forest of Death o_O
  7. I can already taste the salt.
  8. If you feel underpowered, that's simply the way the game is supposed to be played. You are not supposed to 1 hit wolves. The balance is incomplete. All masteries will have their kits split into two different stat points for damage and all of them. Don't worry, the other classes will join WM soon enough.
  9. Nice hahahah
  10. Thanks everyone for patiently waiting while the server is down and supporting us c: always feel so lucky to have everyone here keeping us company while we develop.

  13. You are assuming that besides the obvious advantages of being able to heal and resurrect allies and themselves, that medical-Nin are supposed to be even close to the offensive capabilities of an elemental mastery and that is simply bullshit. Never, no. It will never be that way. It would be completely broken. And you're assuming that medical ninjas are supposed to be OP solo ninjas that can rely on themselves in 1v1 combat. That's never been the intention, the right balance is not one where each individual mastery is capable of 1v1ing another mastery. It's a team game.
  14. Hope the smooth movement system blows everyone's friggin minds. Kudos Seth!

  16. Hahaha, that would have been the way to achieve that in 2003, that or Flash. But no it's actually webkit/CSS3 animation. Thanks everyone
  17. Dear Ninjas, I've spent some time to redesign our community so that we can all enjoy our time here better. The design comes in time for our next Chunin Exam and Beta launch to symbolize our movement into a new era of Nin Online! The forum width is exactly the same as before, it's just made more apparent with background style. I reduced the height of the banner this redesign so that the content is always less scrolling away from the top! Less white so it's less jarring on the eyes (this was a common criticism for the last skin) After some testing, I've realized that the site runs a lot quicker on Edge than on Chrome, which may be a result of Edge's better webkit compatibility. (Please do give me feedback!) I hope everyone likes it! Regards, Rory

  23. Dear Ninjas, It's my great pleasure to announce that we will be holding our second Chunin Exams on the 23 July 2016! The event will take place shortly before we launch the Sand Village and move the game into beta phase! Chunin Exams details The event registration will take place at 1pm EST on 23 July and the entire event will commence at 2pm EST. It may last anywhere between 1 - 4 hours depending on how far our Genins make it. Participants are expected to stay throughout the event. You are to form your own teams of 3 before or during the registration phase. Academy Students are not allowed to participate, please promote to Genin rank if you want to participate. Entry fee for each team is 30,000 Ryo, prepare to hand over the in-game currency to Shiken during the registration phase after a GM has verified you through the gate. You then will teleport your team once you have touched the symbol on the floor. There's a way to exit the room, just by touching the symbol on the floor which will prompt you to leave. If you do decide to leave, you may not reenter. As with any Chunin Exam, the Chunin rank will carry forward indefinitely into the Beta phase and beyond. Rules & Regulations In order to run the event smoothly, you cooperation is required, as such, rule breakers will be kicked from the event which may result in his/her entire team's disqualification. Stay in character Unless you need to ask a serious question, stay in character during your crucial times. Remain online and active If you choose to go AFK and you miss your calling, we will not wait for you. If you disconnect, quickly reconnect and inform a GM. Follow instructions of GMs The GMs and myself will be giving instructions to follow throughout the event. Do not spam the chatbox unnecessarily. You may cheer for other players, but not excessively. This is courtesy as our GMs will be giving instructions, flooding the chatbox will make it hard for others. Watching the Chunin Events Live We will be streaming the event Live on our Twitch channel, there may or may not be live commentary. There will also be a highlights video posted on our YouTube channel after. Conclusion For participants of the last chunin exams, you know how tricky everything can be, so be extra careful! Who knows? maybe this chunin exam is entirely.. different? Regards, Rory
